Diesel Welder -
Miller Pipe Pro 304

The Pipe Pro 304 Engine Driven Welder / Generator
is possibly one of the most flexible diesel welders and another item from the huge range of Miller electric
welding products and consumables.
The machine has been developed with steel and stainless steel
welding operations in mind but it can also be used for arc air gouging operations (up to 1/4” rod) and plasma
cutting.
Despite its light weight (less than ½ ton) and size, the 12,000
Watt power of the Pipe Pro 304 makes possible multiple operations such as welding together with plasma cutting
to be run simultaneously from a single Pipe Pro 304 unit.
The Control Panel also has duplex receptacles to allow additional
power tools to be plugged in such as grinders, lights and fume extractors. This makes this 12,000 Watt diesel powered unit a single all round and cost effective solution
to site fabrication and welding where grid power is not available.
Of course, the 304 can also be used simply as a standalone
generator where emergency power has to be available. Places like farms where dairy machinery has to run, feed
belts have to roll and lighting has to work are especially vulnerable to power outages. When the lines break,
you need a solid reliable backup that will fire up first time and run until the mains power is back
up.
Powered by a 3 cylinder Kubota diesel engine, the fuel efficiency
of this generator means that under medium loading (e.g. stick welding with a 5/32 rod), a single tank of diesel
will allow it to run for over 24 hours.
Oil and filter changes are needed every 200 hours and air filters
need to be cleaned every 100 hours, so you could run for over 4 days in good conditions before doing any
maintenance. And Miller have made that simpler with easy access through the covers to the top and the sides, and
an oil drain that lets you open it without tools and pipes the oil outside the unit.
Downtime is expensive so Miller take care that you don't have any.
Miller pride themselves that their engine driven machines are reliable and robust and test their machines in a
variety of extremes so that when you get onto a site, you know that the machine will keep going.
Miller run their machines for extended periods in hot (above
120°C), dry, wet (driving rain), moist and humid, and dusty and sandy conditions. Just what you would expect in
open cast mining or ship building sites.
They also jolt their machines, shock them, vibrate them and shake
them to simulate transport conditions so that when the machine arrives at a site, it will work when you press
the start button.
If you are going to use the unit in corrosive environments there
is a an optional stainless steel casing package for extra external protection.

Getting it to where it is needed is helped by the
fact that it can be mounted sideways on the back of a pick up truck. It's small enough to see
over the back of the unit when transported this way.
Miller also make trailers for their welders which
frees up your transport for other things.

It comes with a lifting eye as
standard so it can be lifted on or off using a truck mounted crane, forklift boom lifter or other light
crane.
All in all, with its reliability and versatility, high power
output and fuel efficient diesel engine, the PipePro 304 has to be one of the most useful machines you can have
whether you are on a construction site or boatyard, farm or factory.
